1,190 Children, One Bond: A Historic Friendship Between Changsha and Chamdo
This afternoon, in a schoolyard nestled in Karuo District of Chamdo, Tibet, the seventh season of Yingming Charity’s Winter of Warmth campaign unfolded with something extraordinary:
595 Han Chinese children from four schools under the Baixi Education Group in Changsha County were each paired with 595 Tibetan students from Karuo District No.1 Primary School, forming bonds of friendship across mountains and cultures.
This wasn’t just a symbolic gesture—it was a heartfelt connection. The event was taken seriously by local authorities: Karuo District Party Committee Member and United Front Minister Awang Ciren attended with a delegation of leaders, offering full support.
As I stood there, watching these children exchange greetings, gifts, and letters, a wave of realization hit me:
I wasn’t just representing Yingming Charity.
I was representing 75 schools across Changsha County who contributed to this initiative. I was carrying the hopes of tens of thousands of teachers and students—and behind them, the hearts of 1.43 million people from Changsha County.
Suddenly, even the pounding altitude headache seemed to fade.
Because at that moment, I understood the weight—and the beauty—of shared kindness.
