A Decade of Kindness: From Mountain Classrooms to University Dreams

Today, something truly heartwarming happened in the mountains of Western Hunan.

At Duanlong Middle School in Guzhang County, a special gathering brought together students and parents who have been part of the Yingming Charity’s story for more than a decade. Since the very beginning, 49 children from Duanlong Township have received long-term support—some for over 11 years.

Time has flown. Those once-shy middle schoolers are now walking confidently on university campuses across China.

This isn’t just a charity milestone—it’s a living legacy.

As the students returned to their old school today, they brought back more than just thanks. They brought their stories. Stories of waking up before dawn to study, of rice fields and muddy shoes, of handwritten letters and scholarship certificates. More importantly, they brought hope for the next generation growing up on the same winding mountain paths.

During the roundtable talk, parents expressed deep gratitude. One mother said with tears in her eyes:

“We used to worry about every semester’s tuition. Now I worry about whether she eats on time at college.”

That kind of worry, if you think about it, is a kind of miracle.

The session wasn’t just about looking back. Many students voiced their wish to “give back someday”—to their school, to their community, or to others walking similar roads.
